Hello everyone!
Today was our first day of English Camp. I think it is safe to say that almost everyone was a little nervous. We weren’t sure if we would even be able to communicate, much less serve the students effectively. However, fears began to subside as the campers began to arrive. In no more than 10 minutes, most of the American students had found a Hungarian student with a common interest. Justin Bieber and music were the most popular conversation topics 🙂 God made it clear that language barriers and cultural barriers mean nothing when His people are gathered. I was able to participate in a brief Bible Study with Hungarian and American girls. Even though we didn’t really understand each word and phrase the other girls might be saying, we were able to relate to each other anyway. I walked away from the ten minute discussion with a deeper understanding of God’s power, specifically His ability to overcome something as significant as a language barrier. We finished the day just talking and getting to know each other, and realized that there really is no difference between those unified in Christ, no matter which language we speak.
Galatians 3:26-28 – “For in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is no male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”
Annie,
It is so thrilling what you all are doing! Seeking common ground is so wise. Love breaks down language and cultural barriers. Jesus found a pure gospel connection with a foreign woman through something so simple as water in John chapter 4.
We pray that truly many young people there will find their HUNGRY hearts filled through salvation in the Lord Jesus!
Thanks for giving of yourself like this!
I believe that soon some students will have found common ground with Jesus on the cross!
I praise God for all your efforts. They will be rewarded!
