Our First Bible study – Carla

We started off the Bible study with John 12. Pete had prepared thoroughly and we were really glad when it ended up that Shaun and Sondi couldn’t make it at the last minute (school exams in another town held them up). Our new friend Pal only uttered one disagreement, and that was more under his breath and was completely overlooked. (Pal can be argumentative.) The others were very much engaged despite the language difference. Although they each spoke English fairly well, deeper thoughts require even more vocabulary so I thanked the Lord that He gave them the desire to persevere.

One of the attendees was Sylvi, which many who have been here have met and know her story of losing her “husband” just last August. However, you can see the healing work being done in her and God is giving her back her smile. Keep praying for her though. She still has much on her plate!

“Charlie,” Attila, and Pal were the other attendees, along with Magdolna. No one is quite sure if Charlie has accepted Christ, but he is faithful in attending study and classes. He is a successful business man here and they say if he would accept Christ it appears he could be a “mover and a shaker” for the church! The Lord has his people everywhere – we just need to be, and want to be, on the look out! 🙂

We take our first bus ride to Shaun’s house in Hegyesd today. I’mHegyesd glad I’m not figuring this out on my own. Stephen, our ministry partner from Ireland, and Pete are so much better at picking up this language and getting us around – I’m grateful.

Thanks for praying!

  1. You are doing a vital work!
    Romans 10:14-15

How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching?

And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”

  2. How encouraging to hear of your work there in Tapolca. Thank you for joining in and ministering as you are called. Lord, continue to be with Pete and Carla. We ask Your Spirit to guide them in their speaking, preparing, and connecting with people, for Your glory, and for great joy among the people. Amen
