Greetings from Tapolca! Our first full week here has been a successful one.
We have met with 7 students individually so far! We have been strengthening relationships with them and have been setting a firm ground to share the gospel with them. In addition to the 7 students we have met with this week, we are planning to meet with 7 others in the next coming weeks, we will meet again with the original 7 students as well. We want to continuously meet with the same students so that we can be an example of the life Christ has called us to live and not only share the gospel through our words, but also through our actions. We have been meditating on 1 Thessalonians as a team and have been reminded that our actions are loud and “we need not say anything”(1:8). We are striving to show love to one another so that it can be a clear reflection of Christ living in us and that we “may walk properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one” (4:12).
Along with our individual meetings, we had our first Bible study this past Thursday. God blessed us and brought five students to the meeting! In these past few months, some of the other missionaries have been leading a youth group in this town and have struggled to even have any students show up, so five students was truly a good thing! We told the students why we are here, shared the gospel, shared all of our testimonies, and three Bible passages that are very important to us. All of the students payed attention with limited distractions. Personally, I was encouraged by one of the students who was so attentive that he even helped translate for the group.
We have helped the missionaries from Hegyesd, Shaun and Sondi, by watching their boys and leading Sunday school for them in our apartment. We have loved getting to know them better and have loved serving them in these ways.
We have also had some free time to relax and recharge by going to Lake Balaton to cool off, enjoying the sun, and fellowshipping and strengthening our relationships with each other on our team. We have also been watching the Hungarian soccer team play in the Euro Championship.
We are thankful for the good things that God has given us and thankful for the students we have gotten together with. Please continue to pray that even more students would come to our Bible studies and that our individual meeting would be fruitful and gospel conversations would smoothly arise. Thank you so much for all of your prayers and love!
Just wanted to let you all know we are reading your posts and praying as you request! I trust God will use you all in meaningful ways during your time there. I’m also confident there will be stories of how your efforts bear fruit (whether now or later) for God’s glory!
Thank you so much for sharing! Praying for you all!
We praise God for your eagerness to give these days to the advance of the Gospel–the salvation of souls. It is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment…!
