Tapolca Team – Teen Camp Day 2 Week 1 – Kamren

Today was another great day of camp in Tapolca!  We started off our morning, as we always do, with a devotional.  Delaney’s devotional fixed our eyes on Christ as we read about the preeminence of Jesus, and the redemption he has brought to us in Colossians 1:15-20.  After that, we lifted up our day to the Lord in prayer.

Then we prepared our classrooms and got ready for the kids to arrive. It’s always great to see the kids coming off the bus from Tapolca and to greet them with high fives.  They always come in the morning with smiling faces.  After a quick morning game, we headed off to our English classes.

The students are getting more comfortable speaking in and out of English class, which is a blessing!  Thanks to Joan, we have had excellent and fun activities, which makes students more willing to open up and speak with us.  This morning, my class (the upper-beginners) learned about food and colored a plate of food that they had to describe in English.  This is by far the most talkative class I have had, but it’s great because they are doing it in English.

After English classes we headed off to chapel.  We sang songs together, and Ippei preached the message in chapel today from James 1:18-21.  He focused on the good and perfect gift that God has given us in his word and in Jesus.  The students had time afterwards to talk about the message in small groups.  Shaun (the camp director) said that his small group was excited to speak about things they remembered and took away from the message!IppeiPreaching

After lunch, we went for a hike up the hill in Hegyesd.  The hike gave me a chance to talk to students I don’t normally get the chance to.  At the top of the hill, Ippei shared the testimony of how God saved him.  It was great to hear such a powerful testimony of God’s grace during the deepest pits of our lives.  It was also awesome to see the students being quiet and listening to his testimony.

To end our day, we found shady spots and played some relaxed games.  We waved goodbye to the campers as the bus took them away. It has been so exciting to see old friends and make some new ones as well!  It is so good to be back in Hungary and to be back at teen camp.

Please pray the God would continue to strengthen our bodies for the long days, and that we would continue to deepen the fellowship and unity of our team.  As always, pray that God would continue to work through the preaching of his Word.

  2. Hi Kamren,
Thanks for the update and picture! I see some familiar faces. Please say hello to Peter from us as well as Shaun & family.

We continue to pray for you all.

  3. Kamren, we are so grateful for you all representing our Savior there among the young people of Hungary. It sounds like the Spirit of God is making them hungry for the Word! Jesus said to use our earthly resources to win people for heaven: “And I tell you, make FRIENDS for yourselves by means of worldly wealth so that when it fails, they may welcome you into eternal dwellings. Luke 16:9 That is what you guys are all about!
