Today was an extremely encouraging day here in Tapolca! During english classes, we began preparing our performances for tomorrow’s Parent Night. Classes are working hard at memorizing bible verses, working on skits, and practicing songs/dances to show their families tomorrow night during our parents’ night.

After class time, Josh gave a powerful sermon on Romans 8:28 and tied in pieces of his own story to explain how all things work together for God’s good. He taught the campers that even though life events may seem really horrible, God will ultimately use them for his good, even if we don’t understand exactly how. I was encouraged by how intently all the students payed attention while he was speaking and really seemed to digest everything he said. The small group discussions that followed were filled with good questions and further conversation of the message.

Later during camp, everyone piled onto a bus and rode into downtown Tapolca for a competitive scavenger hunt! Divided up into five teams, we scoured the town looking for answers to questions and taking selfies with statues, pictures, and other random objects. The students (and leaders) had so much fun running around town trying to find all the objects before time ran out. It was a great way to bond with the campers and work together with our classes.

Following the amazing day of camp, we had an even more amazing bible study in the evening! Krista, Kamren, and I had our last bible study this evening and in my opinion it was the best one yet. We had 20 kids meet us at Lake Hegyesd to discuss God’s word, sit around a campfire, and make s’mores. It was so encouraging to have so many campers show up and listen to what we had to say and God blessed us with perfect weather for a bible study bonfire.

While sitting squished around a couple of picnic tables, we had a great discussion about how to study the bible and dissect different verses. We talked about rejoicing in our suffering for God in Romans 5:1-5 and how Philippians 1:21 describes how to live is Christ and to die is gain. After our discussion time, we had a ton of fun teaching the Hungarians how to roast marshmallows over a fire and then make them into s’mores. We are praying that the students left with a better understanding of how easy it is to read God’s word and be encouraged to explore all the amazing things written in the Bible.

We ask that you continue to pray for the campers, that they really start to digest everything they have been hearing both at camp and at bible study. And while you’re praying for that, we would love some prayers for our parent night presentation tomorrow. Pray that God will use us and the kids to reach the families and show them Christ’s love.
