Light that Overcomes Darkness

Please pray for the spiritual darkness here in Tapolca. I (Carla) got a referral for a massage therapist from my new friend Ramona (yoga teacher, Bible study partner.) She told me I could get a “soul massage” with this woman. When I declined, saying my soul didn’t need a massage, she said she does all kinds of massage and could just work on my neck if I wanted her to. So we made an appointment and I went the next day. I had been told to wait outside until she unlocked the door because she would probably be with another client and as we waited (Pete had escorted me) we read the signs and papers that were taped to her windows. We were able to figure out that she was practicing many occultic things like tarot card reading, etc. I got nervous but the Lord seemed to remind me that “greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world,” so we continued to wait, planning to keep the appointment. However, after more than 15 min. past the appointment, and knocking to let her know I was there, she never came to the door. I learned later that this woman is known to deal in the occult and was told that the Lord probably was protecting me when she forgot about the appointment. Pete’s response was, “maybe Satan was protecting his own from the Lord’s presence!” What a great perspective and reminder that we carry the light that overcomes all darkness!

Praying at massage parlorThis picture is of the our entire church fellowship (total of six) praying as one outside of the massage building. We prayed for spiritual protection for any unknowing person who would enter, and for Gabrielle, the proprietor. We also prayed for my next time with Ramona when all this would be gently exposed to her for what it is.  We had a very frank and healthly discussion the next day about the existence of evil spirits, and how Satan continues to be a deceiver and disguises himself as an angel of light.  The greatest fruit however, is that Ramona is asking me to show her, “Where does the Bible say this?”  If we can direct the people of Tapolca to respect the authority of Scripture, and to read it for themselves, God will be proclaimed and glorified in this place!

We are winding down our time in Hungary (already!), so please pray for fruitful times these last few weeks!

With MUCH love and gratitude,

Pete and Carla

  1. Thanks for the update Carla. It was so great to see you and Pete via Skype in our worship service on Sunday. We were praying for those in darkness that they would be disillusioned with their false religions and that they would seek the truth and be open to God’s Word. It sounds like God is already working in Ramona’s heart in this way and we will pray for her to earnestly seek Him because when she does, she WILL find Him! Deuteronomy 4:29, Proverbs 8:17, Jeremiah 29:13, Matthew 7:7-8, Luke 11:9-10 and Acts 17:26-28.

  2. Wow, it sounds like you were walking wisely and under the protective care of our Lord. Oh, may God deliver these dear souls from the grip of darkness! It is through fear that Satan holds people captive! Hebrews 2:14-15
